The European Sociological Association's Research Network 01 (RN01) is pleased to announce the mid-term conference titled "Old Societies, New Ageing", to be held on the 6th and 7th of November 2025 in Murcia, Spain.
This conference seeks to explore the multifaceted dimensions of ageing in contemporary societies, with a special focus on the interplay between historical societal structures and the evolving experiences of ageing populations. We welcome contributions from scholars across various disciplines who examine ageing from sociological, cultural, political, and policy perspectives, as well as interdisciplinary approaches that expand the understanding of ageing in modern societies.
We invite theoretical, empirical, and methodological papers addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:
- Intergenerational relationships and social cohesion
- Ageing and health inequalities
- Life course perspectives on ageing
- Policy challenges for ageing societies
- Digital ageing and technology adaptation
- Migration and transnational ageing
- Cultural representations of ageing
- Gender and ageing
